Clothes suitable on a rainy day

Its that time of the year. Yes!!! Its the rainy season. Are you bothered about the outfit to wear on a rainy day. Follow these few tips and stress no more.
Wear clothes that you are comfortable in. You need to be as comfortable as possible so that you can have a great rainy day. Wool are advisable for rainy weather because they are always warm, light and strong.

Have an umbrella ready on. Do not invest a fortune on an umbrella since the tendency of losing it is high and its not used on a regular basis. If you feel uncomfortable with an umbrella, you can substitute with a waterproof jacket. This way, you don't have to bother about losing the umbrella and getting drenched in the rain.

Rainy seasons can really be depressing. Try out fun colours. Colours that brighten your day and lifts your mood. Work you way around outfits that prevent you from caching a cold and bring out the fun person that you are.

Accessorize. This does not mean that you should wear heavy and pronounced jewelleries. Why not work around scarfs, head warmers, rubber boots or rubber footwear?
You can wear dresses, shirts, pants, skirts, T-shirts and others. Most importantly, make sure you are comfortable.

Foods that help fight Rheumatoid Arthritis

If you have rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammation can be one of the most painful symptoms. Although, there are no food to avoid, certain fruit and spices are advised in easing inflammation and help you feel better overall.

PINEAPPLE

With its tuft of spiky, dusty green leaves and cross-hatched, golden orange skin, the pineapple is spiny from the outside and sweet on the inside. This popular tropical fruit contains immune-boosting vitamin C. It also provides a key enzyme called bromelain, which is chock-full of anti-inflammatory substances that can help reduce joint swelling linked to rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Fresh fruits are better than the canned or bottled processed juice.

GINGER

This root-like portion of a tall, reed-like plant has been used for centuries as a folk-medicine inflammation-fighter. Over the past several decades, researchers have confirmed that ginger possesses chemical qualities that appear to curb inflammation. Sliced or chopped ginger adds zest to a variety of foods and beverages, including stews, soups, pancakes, tea, etc. Fresh ginger packs the most punch, but it’s also available in bottled and powdered form.

TUMERIC

This golden-coloured spice has been popular since ancient times, especially in Indian cooking. It’s also been a spice like ginger and garlic. Turmeric’s secret ingredient is curcumin. This component of the spice helps shut down certain proteins in the body that trigger inflammation. Try using turmeric during cooking.

Could they be symptoms of Rhematoid Arthritis?

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a long-lasting autoimmune disorder that primarily affects joints. It typically results in warm, swollen, and painful joints. Pain and stiffness often worsen following rest. Most commonly, the wrist and hands are involved, with the same joints typically involved on both sides of the body. The disease may also affect other parts of the body. This may result in a low red blood cell count, inflammation around the lungs, and inflammation around the heart
Arthritis means inflammation in a joint. That inflammation causes redness, warmth, swelling, and pain within the joint. Rheumatoid arthritis affects joints on both sides on both sides of the body, such as both hands, both wrists, or both knee. This symmetry helps to set it apart from other types of arthritis. RA can also affect the skin, eyes, lungs, heart, blood, or nerves. The warning signs of RA are: joint pain, swelling, stiffness (especially after sitting for a long time), fatigue. Although, RA affects everyone in different ways, some people don't usually have the symptoms.

Who Gets Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Anyone can get RA. The disease is two to three times more common in women than in men, but men tend to have more severe symptoms. It usually starts in middle age. But young children and the elderly also can get it.

How Does It Affect the Body?

Immune system cells move from the blood into the joints and joint-lining tissue, called synovium. Once they arrive, those immune system cells create inflammation that leads to irritation, which wears down cartilage (the cushioning material at the end of bones). As the cartilage wears down, the space between the bones narrows. As it gets worse, the bones could rub against each other.
Inflammation of the joint lining causes swelling and makes fluid build up within the joint. As the lining expands, it can damage the bone. All of these things cause the joint to become very painful, swollen, and warm to the touch.

Regular exercise is recommended as both safe and useful to maintain muscles strength and overall physical function. It is uncertain if specific dietary measures have an effect. Physical activity is beneficial for persons with Rheumatoid arthritis complaining of fatigue. Occupational therapy has a positive role to play in improving functional ability of persons with rheumatoid arthritis.

5 foods you should not eat on a first date

People feel shy on first dates and do not know how to behave, act or even carry his or herself. You need help with what to wear, how to sit, how to walk and most especially what to eat during the date. These are the 5 foods that you are advised not to eat on a first date. This is not an advise that you should pretend but you do not want to look funny to him or her while eating. Remember, first impression lasts longer. You can eat them subsequently after the bond or relationship has been made.

SPAGETTI
This is also known as pasta. As delicious as spaghetti may come across, you should not eat it on a first date unless you are sure you can control your cutlery to prevent having the sauce all over you mouth. Imagine staring at this cute guy you have been crushing on all along, have spaghetti sauce all over his mouth on a first date. You may think of this as cool but sincerely you know it is disgusting.

BURGER
Hmm... Delicious. Treating a date out to McDonald seems like the best to create a casual relationship but trust me it could come back and bite you in the ass. Having a burger doesn't seem as a bad idea on a normal day, but it is a terrible idea on a first date especially with a lady you intend having a long time relationship with. It would be uncomfortable to tell her that she has lettuce in between the teeth or cream on her mouth. Please postpone the burger to he second or third date.

BEANS
This is a meal highly nutritious in protein. It contains a high level of melanin which is needed, in adequate measure, for the body. It is also a no-go area for the meal on a first date. It also makes people "pollute the air"(fart). After the consumption of this healthy meal, the individual will have little or no control of the air released through his anus. Please avoid having this meal on a first date.

CRAB
Don’t order anything that requires a lot of man-handling, it’s just not attractive. It’s difficult to look at someone romantically as you’re tearing apart a sea creature with your bare hands. That is so unromantic. You would look like a monster. Do  not have crabs as part of the meal on a first date.

ONION OR GARLIC
This is a given. Don’t eat anything particularly pungent at the risk of having bad breath for the rest of the night. Onion and Garlic are known for their pungent smell. They leave bad breath after consumption. Don't irritate your date.

Ugly Truth about your Tooth brush

The toothbrush is an oral hygiene instrument used to clean the teeth and gums that consists of a head of tightly clustered bristles mounted on a handle, which facilitates the cleansing of hard-to-reach areas of the mouth.
Toothpaste, which often contains fluoride, is commonly used in conjunction with a toothbrush to increase the effectiveness of tooth brushing. Toothbrushes are available with different bristle textures, sizes and forms. Most dentist recommend using toothbrush labelled "soft", since hard bristled toothbrushes can damage tooth enamel and irritate the gums.
It is not recommended to share toothbrushes with others since besides general hygienic concerns there is a risk of transmitting diseases that are typically transmittable by blood, such as Hepatitis C.
After use it is advisable to rinse the toothbrush with water, shake it off and let the toothbrush dry.
Bent and worn out bristles of a toothbrush lead to decreased cleaning efficiency. It is therefore recommended to change it for a new one when it appears to be worn out (roughly after 6–16 weeks).

Do You Know What's Lurking on Your Toothbrush?

Your toothbrush is home to more than 100 million bacteria including E. coli and staphylococci (Staph) bacteria, according to researchers at the University of Manchester in England. And the University of Alabama at Birmingham found that fecal germs were on your toothbrushes too.
All that sounds gross, but you needn't panic. Your mouth is also full of bacteria and your toothbrush probably won't make you sick, but there are ways to keep it clean so you stay healthy.

Most of these germs already exist in your mouth so you probably won't get sick from them. However, if others use your toothbrush (or you use someone else's) germs can be spread.
The thing to worry about is recurring illness. "When your resistance is low, that's when this becomes clinically important," he says. "In essence, you are re-infecting yourself," says Glass.

Health: do not joke with headaches

Headache, also known as cephalalgia, is the symptom of pain anywhere in the region of the head or neck. It occurs in migraines, tension-type headaches, and cluster headaches. Frequent headaches can affect relationships and employment. There is also an increased risk of depression in those with severe headaches. Headaches can occur as a result of many conditions whether serious or not. There are a number of different classification systems for headaches. The most well-recognized is that of the International Headache Society. Causes of headaches may include fatigue, sleep deprivation, stress, the effects of medications, the effects of recreational drugs, viral infections, common colds, head injury, rapid ingestion of a very cold food or beverage, and dental or sinus issues.
Treatment of a headache depends on the underlying cause, but commonly involves pain medication. Some form of headache is one of the most commonly experienced of all physical discomforts.
About half of adults have a headache in a given year. There are the primary and secondary headaches.

 PRIMARY HEADACHE

90% of all headaches are primary headaches. Primary headaches usually first start when people are between 20 and 40 years old. The most common types of primary headaches are migraines and tension-type headaches. They have different characteristics. Migraines typically present with pulsing head pain, nausea, photophobia (sensitivity to light) and phonophobia(sensitivity to sound). Tension-type headaches usually present with non-pulsing "bandlike" pressure on both sides of the head, not accompanied by other symptoms. Other very rare types of primary headaches include:
  • cluster headaches: short episodes (15–180 minutes) of severe pain, usually around one eye, with autonomic symptoms (tearing, red eye, nasal congestion) which occur at the same time every day. Cluster headaches can be treated with triptans and prevented with prednisone, ergotamine or lithium.
  • trigeminal neuralgia: shooting face pain
  • hemicrania continua: continuous unilateral pain with episodes of severe pain. Hemicrania continua can be relieved by the medication indomethacin.
  • primary stabbing headache: recurrent episodes of stabbing "ice pick pain" or "jabs and jolts" for 1 second to several minutes without autonomic symptoms (tearing, red eye, nasal congestion). These headaches can be treated with indomethacin.
  • primary cough headache: starts suddenly and lasts for several minutes after coughing, sneezing or straining (anything that may increase pressure in the head). Serious etiologies(see secondary headaches red flag section) must be ruled out before a diagnosis of "benign" primary cough headache can be made.
  • primary exertion headache: throbbing, pulsatile pain which starts during or after exercising, lasting for 5 minutes to 24 hours. The mechanism behind these headaches is unclear, possibly due to straining causing veins in the head to dilate, causing pain. These headaches can be prevented by not exercising too strenuously and can be treated with medications such as indomethacin.
  • primary sex headache dull, bilateral headache that starts during sexual activity and becomes much worse during orgasm. These headaches are thought to be due to lower pressure in the head during sex. It is important to realize that headaches that begin during orgasm may be due to a subarachnoid haemorrhage, so serious causes must be ruled out first. These headaches are treated by advising the person to stop sex if they develop a headache. Medications such as propranolol and diltiazem can also be helpful.
  • hypnic headache: moderate-severe headache that starts a few hours after falling asleep and lasts 15–30 minutes. The headache may recur several times during night. Hypnic headaches are usually in older women. They may be treated with lithium.

      SECONDARY HEADACHE

Headaches may be caused by problems elsewhere in the head or neck. Some of these are not harmful, such as cervicogenic headache (pain arising from the neck muscles). Medication overuse headache may occur in those using excessive painkillers for headaches, paradoxically causing worsening headaches. More serious causes of secondary headaches include:
  • meningitis: inflammation of the meninges which presents with fever and meningismus, or stiff neck
  • bleeding inside the brain (intracranial hemorrhage)
  • subarachnoid hemorrhage (acute, severe headache, stiff neck WITHOUT fever)
  • ruptured aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, intraparenchymal hemorrhage (headache only)
  • brain tumor: dull headache, worse with exertion and change in position, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Often, the person will have nausea and vomiting for weeks before the headache starts.
  • temporal arteritis: inflammatory disease of arteries common in the elderly (average age 70) with fever, headache, weight loss, jaw claudication, tender vessels by the temples, polymyalgia rheumatica
  • acute closed angle glaucoma (increased pressure in the eyeball): headache that starts with eye pain, blurry vision, associated with nausea and vomiting. On physical exam, the person will have a red eye and a fixed, mid dilated pupil.
